Native of the autonomous region of Xinjiang in which her people the Uighur live, Dilbèr graduated from the music academy of Beijing. After having started a successful career in Asia, a career that still flourishes, she began a European career when she took part in the Mirjam Helin Singing Competition in Helsinki.
Engagements followed swiftly in Finland, Europe and the rest of the world. Some of the opera houses Dilbèr has performed in, are Amsterdam, Bonn, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Göteborg, Hamburg, München, Salzburg- and Edinburgh Festivals, Stockholm, Venice and Vienna. In Finland she has a permanent contract with the Finnish National Opera.
Dilbèr has also been working with some of Europe’s most exciting directors, among others: Giancarlo del Monaco, Peter Mussbach and Dario Fo.
The orchestras with which Dilbèr has worked include Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano della RAI, VARA Radio Orchestra, Orchester der Beethovenhalle Bonn, MDR Symphony Orchestra, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian RTV Symphony Orchestra, Israel Sinfonietta, as well as the leading Scandinavian orchestras.
The conductors with whom she has collaborated are, among others: Michael Gielen, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Maurizio Barbacini, Okko Kamu, Eri Klas, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Miguel Gómez-Martinez, Dennis Russell Davies, Leif Segerstam, Rafael Weikert, Hans Wallat and Alberto Zedda.
Some of the parts in Dilbèr’s extensive repertory are Adina, Amina, Angelica/Orlando Paladino, Blondchen, Corinna/Il viaggio a Reims, Despina, Gilda, Königin der Nacht, Lakmé, Lucia, Lauretta, Marie, Nanetta, Olympia, Oscar, Rosina, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and Werther, Zerbinetta and Zerlina.
Recently engagements have included among others: Don Carlos with Zubin Mehta, concerts with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, China concert tour, concerts in Taiwan, Singapore and Carmina Burana with Fabio Luisi in Leipzig and the New Year concert with Fabio Luisi and Swiss Romande in Geneva, Così fan tutte, Entführung aus dem Serail, Ariadne auf Naxos, Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
In November 2003 Dilbèr was awarded the most prestigious prize in China “Golden Record” and “Best performer”.
Since 2000 Dilbèr is an honorary professor at Xingjiang Arts College and professor at the Xingjiang University, where the “Dilbèr Vocal Music Art Research Centre” was established in the same year.
Dilbèr appears in numerous radio- and TV programs. Finnish, Swedish, Uighur and Chinese television have made documentaries devoted solely to Dilbèr’s career, all nations naming her their “Nightingale”.
